Biografia
Nicola Müllerschön is head of the arts and culture department at the non-profit foundation KfW Stiftung, Frankfurt, founded in 2012 by KfW, one of the world's leading development banks. She has established and shaped the arts sector from scratch (visual art, literature, music, performative arts) and is responsible for developing and organising funding projects, exhibitions and events, all dedicated to encouraging intercultural dialogue. Among the projects there are residency programmes for up-and-coming artists from Latin America, Africa, the Middle East and Asia in Berlin and Frankfurt. Project partners include the Goethe-Institut, the DAAD Artists-in-Berlin programme and the Centre of Contemporary Art, Lagos, among others. Moreover, she is in charge of the art collection of KfW Stiftung. She received her PhD from the University of Bern for her thesis on Alighiero Boetti’s emboideries from Afghanistan and Pakistan (2013). Her extensive research in art history has included projects at the University of Zurich; the Zurich University of the Arts and the University of Bern. She was commissioned by Hamburger Kunsthalle to compile the contemporary art inventory catalogue (2007) and was assistant curator of numerous exhibitions. She is affiliated to the ongoing project ‘Global Art and the Museum’ at ZKM in Karlsruhe, and in 2015 is jury member of Celeste Prize, 7th edition.
