Biografia
I am a multi-disciplinary artist and designer, and a recent masters of art graduate from Central Saint Martins. I have a diverse background in fine arts (art history, painting, drawing, sculpture), science (mathematics, physics), design (graphic, spatial and communication design), and professional experience that spans Russia, Brazil, Cyprus, China, and the UK.
I experiment with different media and technology applications in my work, without limiting myself by postmodernist linearity or technological achievements. My work values interconnectedness: I prefer not to view time or the development of the work as linear. In my projects I refer to the past (history), the future (technologies, future trends) and current fields of study (art, design, science, typography, photography, fashion). For me, the space-time continuum is a more relevant way of thinking than a geographic, moment based way. It is possible to understand my practice as a kind of ‘quantum art’, reminding us that we are always becoming, that we always are many things, many times, many places and many people.
Currently I experiment with typography, photography and film projects, with application of highly theoretical and complex metaphorical approaches, and reflection of the context of alter-modernity, defined by Nicolas Bourriaud: the artist works in a hypermodern world with supermodern ideas and themes, mixing of the ‘old’ and ‘traditional’ with the ‘new’ and ‘modern’, translating and transcoding information from one format to another, and creating new pathways between multiple formats of expression and communication.
I was displayed in a group exhibition at Somerset House (April 2013). Recently I participated as a font designer and a member of the identity design team for the UK pavilion at the Bi-City Biennale of Urbanism / Architecture in Shenzhen, China. This project won Biennale’s Academic Committee Award. One of my latest photography works was digitally showcased on the screen at the Saatchi Gallery (May-June 2014).
