To Whom it may concern,
Since I was a little kid, I loved to commune with nature and animals, and have always been in awe - or curious of life. While growing up, I had opportunities to experience various fields in art, e.g. dance, painting, music, etc, and it made me realize that I could express my sensibilities and feelings through art. Thus I decided to explore my curiosities towards nature and life especially through the process of drawing and sculpting.
My college life of studying art in Korea was the beginning of this exploration. It was an important period where I established a foothold as an artist. In college, I worked with numerous kinds of different materials which enabled me to become familiar with their unique qualities. I also ardently studied the histories of Eastern and Western arts and began to wish that I had more experiences in the art and culture of other countries as well. At this period, I backpack traveled many European countries and was mesmerized by their different ideas and approaches towards art. However I realized that it was too short of a journey to absorb everything there. Consequently a decision was made to study abroad in Italy where various cultures co-exist and whose people love art fervently.
The 8 years in Italy was a great opportunity for me to experiment with my works. While attempting bold approaches towards abstract art, I became attracted to the art of drawing as well. It was such a precious time where I widened my horizons.
Having a good many trips and making new contacts and relationships, I came to rethink about my way of communicating with nature. Since then, I have been working both with sculpture and drawing, and through various attempts, studied the movements of lives breathing within nature; which I was always interested in.
As all other artists, I push myself to grow by persistently studying and working on my pieces. I still have a long way to go, but I will not hurry myself. Even if it may seem a bit slow, I wish to steadily and regularly keep on working on my own art.
Thank you.
