Gregor Pieplow sees the world through the lens of forms, formulas and
structures. Whether in discussions about his works, everyday life or
theories about quantum physics, his thoughts expand like clouds in the
atmosphere. His pictures give us the opportunity to wander through his
world on a carefully designed path. Inspired by the Polish author
Stanislaw Lem, Gregor's works display a wealth of details and ideas
similar to that presented in Lem's texts.
His first contact with a pencil came at the age of four, when his drew
a sunflower for his great grandmother. In retrospect, the realistic --
to his 4-year old eyes -- portrayal reveals his penchant for precise
observations and their abstraction. Four years later he made the
acquaintance of a like-minded schoolmate, and they spurred each other
on to keep developing new forms for illustrating their fantasies. At
the same time, Gregor extended his powers of observation, which
activated an interest in the natural sciences and an obsession with
physics. Today he is in the process harmonizing these interests in
physics and art.
