Artist Statement
My formative years were spent in London during the late 60s onwards. Although not fully aware of the anthropological effects of Modernism on a post war society, I was aware of British documentation through film and theatre a transition portrayed through social realism.
My work has always been informed by both the vulnerability and perceived sense of security that lies behind the front door.
The façade that separates one space from another the threshold that separates one set of functions from another, one mind set from another. The transition experienced from the brutality of the urban street, to the comfort of the home. My work is rooted and refers to the decisions we make from aesthetic conventions to form and taste. This is more than mere decorative folly! No architect or designer surrenders totally to function. In order to satisfy our connection to the now we must maintain an inextricable link to the past.
