My current practice is an investigation of the relationship between observing and objectifying. I am interested in making physical the undercurrents of communication. Through my use of the everyday, my work creates a new context for the viewer, but also for the materials used. The viewers and I communicate with the materials in a new way. I often begin making work by thinking about how we process information. Using the tropes of interior design, my practice is playful and rhythmic. Particularly DIY elements complete a transformation through my process; from laser-cutting Perspex to painting wallpaper. Often pattern is also applied. This repetition is key for my relationship to interior decor for domestic, commercial, and religious spaces. I evoke recognition of the viewer’s experiences my alterations then disrupt the familiarity.
