Biografia
Through out history there is this need to connect with the afterlife, and bridge to the metaphysical in a tangible way. In ritual artifacts, or the great masterpieces of the European Cathedrals, we manifest these invisible beliefs into physical objects. By placing recognizable physical items and people into my paintings and distorting them, I hope to represent how energy moves from one plane to another plane of existence, or non-existence. This odd and almost unrecognizable space creates an uncanny, and ghost like atmosphere where there is a feeling of mystery and uncertainty. The pieces of the collage and the painting filling in the space allows the paint to connect the images, shapes, texture, and colors. These connections may not fit the logical rules of the real world, but it creates a chaotic and dissipating space with its own harmonious logic. This transition from life to death is the fate of all living things and we can’t help but to be curious by the most ultimate unknown.
I'm not making a statement about the afterlife, nor am I trying to be overtly negative or positive, but illustrate ambiguity with nameless spaces and people.
