Our anthropocentric existence posits a soulless attitude towards the physical world. By harnessing the undeniable power of beauty, working around the distaste of acknowledging the inconvenient, the painful or the shameful, and shining an unsentimental light into the recesses of our inherent connection with the physical world, art has an opportunity to effect change. Evolution has demonstrated that the difference between humans and other animals is one of degree, not kind. We are nature, and nature is not culture. I paint pictures that facilitate seeing the unspoiled whole, the unfettered view. My paintings point the viewer to what is no longer plainly visible or unassumingly viewed and they offer insight into the state of emergency our sense of separation seemingly makes acceptable.
