Biografia
After eight months abroad this new series of paintings approaches the themes of ‘identity’ and ‘belonging’ often dear to us once away from our home. The portraits in mixed media depict a Chinese man dressed up as a variety of characters tied to their country of origin. The evident juxta-position of images and interchange of identities questions the ever-growing common struggle to hold on to our roots while witnessing the mainstream homogeneization of cultures, fusion of traditions, national interdependancy, and dwindling of the meaning of the terms ‘authentic’and ‘original’.
The stylistique choice of portraying each character as a person with no voice is the liet-motif of the works presented.
