Biografia

I started photographing on above-ground subway platforms after the terrorist attack on NY in September 2001.

Acting as photographic architect and photographing at night, I combined multiple images to create a new reality and/or to merge simultaneous moments into one. This reinforced the concepts of construction and deconstruction from which the work first evolved.

Now the work has evolved to also include twilight, daylight, grid-like arrangements and single images rather than multiples combined as one. Sometimes, rather than working at creating a "new" reality, I deeply explore the relationship of the platforms to the surrounding community i.e. the theme of machinery vs humanity.

I photograph in various cities throughout the world to explore this dynamic in different places.

I'm currently working on several portfolios of work. One is a night series at minor league baseball games. It is titled Rituals: Night Baseball. Rituals of family life are revealed through clothing, possessions and demeanor against the classic American backdrop of night baseball.
