Biografia
Paolo Squarzon got a Composition degree with full marks at the Conservatorio in Padua. After that he followed several specialization courses under the guide of Brian Ferneyhough and Franco Donatoni at the Accademia Chigiana in Siena, Accademia Nazionale di S. Cecilia in Rome and the Fondation Royaumont.
Furthermore, he studied Electronic music at the Venice Conservatorio under the guide of Alvise Vidolin.
In 1995 he won the first edition of the “Amsterdam New Music” competition (Gaudeamus Foundation) with Rèseaux II for violin and cello.
In 1999 he was finalist at the first edition of the international competition “Novecentomusica” (Cantelli Foundation, Milan) with Methexis for 12 soloist strings.
His last works include pieces for soloists (voice, doublebass recorder, viola), live electronics and video. Currently his search is more and more focused towards compositional and psychoacoustical interactions between acoustic instruments and live electronics.
