Biografia
I am a painter,3D and installation artist, living and working in Hebden Bridge in the north of England.
At the moment I am primarily focusing on abstract drawing, using different inks and pencils on paper.
Much of my work reflects and explores spiritual questions,belonging and landscape.
I also create environmental art using local 'found' materials.
My artistic philosophy is summarized as:-
Lines are the simplest of all artistic marks. The drawing of a simple single line is like the beginning of a language or the start of a story.
On its own, the first line is the first utterance, of little meaning until joined by further lines that are positioned in relation to it.
The story then develops its scope, its breadth, its complexities, its pretensions and hopes. Lines upon lines give successive possibilities of meaning and interpretation, until their visibility is obscured by the story that we read from them.
But at the heart of it is that simple single line.
