Biografia

Tiago Botelho was born in 1976 in the city of Brasília, and began his artistic actions with the edition of fanzines, gathering in the beginning of the 90s a whole generation of designers and alternative poets of the brazilian capital. Also at that time, realized his first mural paintings at the streets of the city, being graduated in Visual Arts in the year of 2002.

Botelho has participated in several collective exhibitions in spaces such as the National Museum of the Republic, integrating the group of brazilian artists in the co-lateral program of the XII Havana Biennial, Cuba. There, he had the opportunity to paint two murals, one of public character, and another in the Municipal Museum of Guanabacoa. In addition to the exhibitions, he held a serie of murals at federal universities such as UnB, UFRB and IFB.

His greatest motivation as an artist is to create a language that is both contemporary and ancestral, since he makes use of different strategies such as the appropriation of images, the industrial colors, the strong tracehole from graffitiin compositions on canvas, paper , skin and wall, loaded with hermetic symbolisms, symmetries and dream-like landscapes.
