Biography

Born and raised in Southern California in an American-Mexican, Catholic family, Catherine has been pursuing her love of art since her father saw her talent and began exposing her to the world of art at the age of four. Her father was her biggest supporter and inspiration. He shared his daughter’s love of the classics and encouraged her classical training. Both of her parents have been instrumental in bringing out Catherine’s own unique style in her artwork. Another source of inspiration for Catherine has been the amazing museums and displays of art in the cultures that she enjoyed discovering during her travels in Russia, Finland, Denmark, Sweden, England and Mexico. The Hermitage Museum in St. Petersburg, Russia made a particular impact on her life.

Out of high school, Catherine was offered a scholarship at the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, CA. During her years at Art Center, she was offered her first high paying job as a computer graphic designer opening up a new career working with computers. She has been able to apply her creative talents in developing web pages and databases.

Catherine takes great pleasure in creating large format watercolor paintings. Nature and children are her favorite subjects. She enjoys experimenting in other mediums but her passion is in watercolors, something her father encouraged the day she discovered watercolor painting for the first time.

After taking some time away from painting to focus on her family, Catherine is excited to once again concentrate on her first love. In her spare time, she enjoys baking, teaching art to children and keeping up with her college bound son in the Fall of 2016.
