Biography
Milo Is a self-thought artist. His discovery of art was sketches and drawings from his elementary days at the Celedonio Salvador in the Philippines. His interest became more apparent when two of his uncles, Goody and Intoy Albasin introduced him to watercolor, charcoal, and oil paintings. Today, he outlines his great passion for art as reflections of our own self-motivations, outside influences, life experiences, beliefs, travels, and cultural upbringing.
Milo's concepts were ideas and interpretations from his engagements with people as he travels places. He paints mixes of life and still with the goal of finding what might it look like on canvas to decide afterwards the final outcome of his subjects. His paintings about portraitures, sports, world events, life in nature and imagery of dreams are among his favorite captures.
Milo predominantly uses oil or acrylic on canvas mixing with gel, gesso and glazing liquid and finishing it with sandpaper before the protective varnish. His favorite tools are a variety of brushes, pallet knives, droppers, finishing sanders and masking tapes. Milo’s process is cumbersome since he wants to experiment and discover techniques while painting. He likes to apply a rich texture of his medium and his colors always shifted in darker tones. The marks of brush bristles, fibers, microscopic pigments are part of Milo’s finished work and these attributes are the fingerprints of his works.
His philosophy about the future of his name as an artist will depend on how his critics and audience will judge his works. He believes in Plato's famous quote, “Beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder”. Milo has great admirations with the natural talent of an artist friend who lives in France named Bernard Emmanuel Beneito .
Currently, Milo is busy with his family business and while away from his paintings, he loves to play golf, cook, and watch television with wife of 30 years Margie.
