Biography

The circle is a constant preoccupation: the most elemental and universal shape, it forms the core of much of my current work. It also connects to my meditation on the fugitive nature of memory over time, the existence of a gesture, a trace that would otherwise be lost. How may the essence of that moment be recalled?
I use the expressive gestural qualities of brush and ink combined with gesso, paint, gilding and piercing in my exploration to record the immaterial. As in life, chance and working on the edge of control play their part.
