Biography
I began being interested in taking photos at the age of 15; before that, painting has always been
my favorite hobby. I used to paint landscapes, portraits, and still life. I was then influenced by the
style of Rembrandt and this pushed me to attend oil painting lessons at YMCA in Gaza in 1991.
After my graduation in fine arts at YMCA when I was 18 years old, I decided to change my
professional career and work as a journalist in Gaza City. I also worked as a designer for national
magazines and as a press photographer for governmental and non-governmental institutions in
Palestine. When the Second Intifada broke out in 2000, I decided to travel to Europe.
In 2007, I received the Bachelor of Arts degree in visual arts from the University of Paris VIII St.
Denis. During my studies, I held many solo and collective art exhibitions in cooperation with
cultural centers, institutions and art galleries in many French cities.
Since 2008, I work in the field of contemporary visual arts in Italy, using the camera for pictures
and videos, which play a fundamental role in the construction of my artwork. I integrate my
acquired personal artistic experience with multi-project preparation and planning, drawing and
graphics, production and editing; and this is what distinguishes the method in my work.
I am now able to work as a free-lance photographer, film maker and designer. I can travel to Arab
and European countries and interact with the people. I can realise ideas and projects of art in the
field of photography and film and translate them into a contemporary artistic and visual language.
