Biography
Nick Chendela Sangale was born in Mufulira, Zambia. He worked for many years as a visual artist in Lusaka. He was introduced to sculpture and secondly to painting and ceramics. In 2010, he got a grant from the Hansjörg Wyss Foundation to pursue his knowledge at the Valais School of Art, in Switzerland, where he presently lives. He explores the fields of performance as well as 3D installations and continues working on painting and sculpture. His artwork revolves around the issue of communication with others, in cross-cultural situations, and in today's society. He has developed his own (artistic) language consisting of symbols, called Nguvu. Mixed to colors, phantasmagoric characters, these symbols bring an abstract and utopian feature to his observations of day to day life.
