Biography

I am currently studying BA (Hons) Contemporary Art and Design at Writtle College in Essex.
My practice is multi-disciplinary, encompassing a variety of materials and forms. Performance plays a large role in much of my current work, allowing me to use my body as a vehicle for self-expression, incorporating dance, music and text. Having developed skills in traditional printmaking techniques, my practice is concerned with pushing boundaries and integrating print with other media, including performance. A large part of my work carries a strong narrative, often conveying pain, though not necessarily apparent to the viewer. I confront concerns that I am exploring in personal psycho-dynamic therapy, often using fabric and stitch. The use of stitch is significant to the idea of repair; repair of both body and mind.
The artist, Louise Bourgeois has had a considerable influence on my work, particularly in the way she addresses themes of rejection and abandonment. I am able to relate to many of these themes through being adopted and much of my art is driven by their existence.
Preferring to work quickly and express my unconscious with un-predictable, yet thought provoking results, my aim is to open up dialogue for development of my practice.
