Biography

Cristina Papanikas is an Italian artist. Born in Cagliari (Italy), she graduated in law at the "Alma Mater Studiorum" in Bologna. Grew up in a family atmosphere marked by artistic activities (her father is a greek painter, her mother, Italian, is engaged in theatre activities) since childhood she showed a strong interest in arts. At the age of eleven she started studying piano and violin at the Conservatory of Music in Cagliari.
Her journey as a painter begins with the desire to express herself through drawing in pencil and it pursues, later, with the study of colour and materials both on canvas and on wood panels.
She likes to explore the relationship between music and painting searching out the ideal fusion between sound and colour, rhythm and pictorial gesture.
Her constant experimentation among the interactions resulting from that relationship brought her to conceive the workshop “The colours of musical notes” that is a creative project of free painting under the emotional effects of music.
She started collaborations with musicians on Live Painting performances: Jazz Ambient, experimental e Noise Music.
