Statement
Maxwell's distinct and diverse artistic practice covers a broad spectrum of themes and employs a wide range of mediums. His work moves from the durational and painstaking into the instant and humorous, although creating from his personal experiences his ideas and identity is universally transferable.
Through physically becoming a brand by painting 20 pints of his own blood into a logo in 'Buy In Bleed Out', or spending a year in isolation constantly drawing a set of four marks repeatedly for 'Drawn Out', Maxwell has challenged himself in order to challenge the viewer. His recent series 'Inside' focuses on physiological disorders/psychoanalysis where as his latest urban project 'Beg Your Pardon' explores the issue of homelessness.
