Biography
Mauro Small was born in Bologna in November 1954, in the mid-70s he attended a course of restoration organized by the Emilia Romagna, where he learns dictates important on restoration of paintings and furniture, obtaining the certificate of "Restorer of Arts Minor and Joinery. " This experience begins a great passion for the wooden inlay, which led him to the realization of paintings made with pieces of wood veneers, the ancient Tarsia.
In 2006 at a major art atelier in Bologna, it is directed towards the study of sculpture and design, and is in the clay which he finds the ideal material for the realization of forms related to the ability to invent scenes and creations that cause questions , building paths sculptural generating thoughts and arguments "that are to be revealed." In this art and this matter he finds elements congenial to their poetic research, suitable to express important concepts investigated in years of study of Yoga. Because who does not like the pursuit of sensationalism end in itself, what becomes vacuous exhibitionism, choose to direct their representative capacity on two different but equally fascinating roads, which are to create environments archetypal, combined with visionary scenes and buildings architectural fantastic together in a symbolic sculpture, dialoguing harmoniously with absolutely realistic figurative elements and fans, thus creating authentic sculptures small.
From this research, and thanks to the materiality of clay, it developed a constant search for the "elegance", in an interpretation that makes dialoguing styling and design.
