Biography

Born in Scaletta Zanclea, in the province of Messina, in the '60s she began painting under the guidance of his father and improved their skills at the High School. She was awarded, since the adolescence for works created or presented (including murals) in extemporaneous or events in the eastern of Sicily. The transfer to the University of Siena and then university career have marked the arrest of her artistic activity; therefore, the flow of all her energy towards scientific studies. She is currently Associate Professor of General Psychology at the Department of Neuroscience at the University of Parma, after being fellow at the University of Padua and researcher at the University of Palermo. Olimpia Pino studied for years the ways in which people remember in the laboratory and in everyday life; in order to understand how the brain changes with experience from several years dealing with Brain Computer Interface. At her Laboratory of Cognitive Psychology is conducting research on neuropsychological function in disorders of memory and different clinical, human error, and the quality of healthcare also using the humanoid robot NAO-H25. Neuro-Upper is the first prototype of BCI developed by her research team to treat the non-invasive and non-pharmacological mood disorders, anxiety and improve performance in neuropsychological. Her expressive talent has resurfaced over the past three years after a long period of isolation and personal change. Creatures above constitute eco travel, heritage, visions or reflections which sometimes is the chromatism to prevail, giving meaning to the matter (the Amazon, Mattanza in Lampedusa). Other times immersion in deep intimacy and universal rule the birth of parallel worlds (Akashic messages) and metamorphosis in which existence is not a single dimension. Several works reflect and prefigure the current of transhumanism (Swirf: Call of the evening, Waves, Incarnation). Some of her paintings have been selected for the event "The island that there is" organized by EA Publisher in Palermo in October 2015.
