Biography

Gisella Ruggeri, alias Ms Giza, is a designer with a passion. Her personal studies develop in another direction, she is graduated at the University of Palermo in the Faculty of Civil Engineering and Architecture, and all that she has learned of the art of drawing and illustration has studied self-taught through books and exercise.
More than the perfect design research the perfect "expression", since the image for her is first of all the means that best translates what she hears.
The underlying theme of his work is the need to express the thoughts born from the desire to understand the reality, made up of people and relationships, and thus to understand herself. Sometimes there are comments, questions accompanied by pictures, sometimes representations of a fantasy world to escape reality, sometimes illustrations of the real world to not get caught in the fantasy. The techniques used to do this are different, from the drawing in pencil and ink, at use the classic coloring with crayons, oil pastels, watercolor pencils, to more modern digital coloring; sometimes develops the design entirely from the computer.
The first production of published and self-produced is contained in the booklet "First Steps for new eyes", created in collaboration with Serena Cancilla and Amedeo Martorana. The work created by the decision to externalize those thoughts for a long time were just venting personal and intimate. The medium is the image and the word, short and most often pragmatic.
Among the various experiences, Ms Giza, was in Lucca Comix and Games with planks with comic fanzine format, the "ACD (Degenerate Art Comix)", along with a group of guys from Palermo, all cartoonists part of Shockdom; She has made a solo exhibition at Arci Samarcanda in Canicattì; She has been part of the collective Palermo cartoonists and illustrators included in the booklet "Black Dodo n.0 illustrators at large"; He took part in various exhibitions and live performances in Sicily. This year, her works have been selected to participate in the Biennale International Art of Palermo.
