Biography

Rita Barigelli was born in Civitavecchia (Rome, Italy). She is living and working in Rome.
Having had no formal training until a few years ago, she recently materializes her interest in the painting. While living in Egypt from 2007 to 2013 she studied watercolor, acrylic and oil painting under the well-known Egyptian artist Mohammed Mansour. In the same time, since she was already fond off Arabic Language, she explored it more and discovered the art of Islamic Calligraphy . She became passionate about this art studying Naskh, Diwani and Kufi style.
The rich experience of these last years comes out from her work: figures, moments, scenes from everyday life testify how deeply the Arab culture has influenced her. Continuing to study Islamic calligraphy she is going through new ways to tie the ancient to the modern.
On December 2014 she received a reward from the Egyptian Cultural Center in Rome because of her participation with her paintings to the Arab Language and Egyptian Culture week.
From 11th to 25th of January 2015 she participated with her works to “ 2nd International Art Biennal”, in Palermo
From 15th to 18th of May 2015 she will partecipate to RomArt - “International Art and Culture Biennal” in Rome
From 19th to 30th of May 2015 she will partecipate with two of her works to “The Exhibition in the History – From Caravaggio till this day and age” – Piazza del Popolo - Rome
