Biography

The process by which Matteo Peretti begins a work of art involves a patient process of collecting objects of all kind, they are then manipulated and enhanced by different meanings: “among them, the irony and a ludic implication play a relevant role. The pop-appearance is immediately reabsorbed in favor of a more disenchanted approach of understanding society.
Toys, clothing, accessories, pieces of natural and artificial landscape, sound and urban noise... these are some of the basic ingredients of Peretti’s sculptures; for him everything can be reinvented, each real form contains its sculptural counterpart. It is a daily flux that embodies an impressive well of cues and notes, these used objects, sometimes broken take on a new identity with a series of ironic but definitive gestures.
As a theatrical mise en scene, the artist creates his sculptures following a narrative scheme visible from the title of the work, to its realization; he puts a big emphasis on details, to which he assigns the role of showing a vision of a world veiled by sarcasm.
Peretti’s sculptures evolve from an intuitive starting-point that require an unusually active and attend viewer. The artist plays with the well-known second glance, that gives new meanings to common surfaces. He informs you that his form is going to deform your vision, softly and implacably.
