Biography
Flavio Berni was born in the metropolitan area of Milan.
He’s got a Bachelor Degree as Fine Art Master from the State School of Art, Forlì, Italy
He has been involved in many activities of the Art underground in the area where he lives and showed his art in such events as;
Spazi agli Spazi’ la Notte Verde a Forlì 2012
Riserva del Sindaco, Comune di Predappio, 2010 (progetto menzionato)
Palazzo del Diavolo, Forlì, performance ed eventi espositivi dal 1999 al 2001.
One person show in public venues of the area where he lives
Flavio Berni faces the marble with the grace of a decorator drawing with ink on a white paper. Traditionally associated to the large sculpture, here the marble appears as it were drawn. The result is peculiar and seductive
We look at a slow, meticulous sculpture enriched by many many details and the art work appears light, it looks like is very simple to engrave the marble, but it’s not at all, the marble is very hard material to work.
It comes as no surprise that Flavio Berni is from School a Certified Master in Goldsmithing and Jeweler's. His talent is certain in our opinion, so it is also his knowledge of various raw materials and many metals, which he has experimented with Gold and Silver fusions. He well knows also clay and terracotta, he has realized a gallery of human characters in between the humanity and beasts that the artist defines as sophomore work of art
Here we are surprised by the rare choise of Marble, in our frame of Time when most of the Art Schools licence works of Art much oriented to Photography and Video.
So, Flavio Berni “draws” on the marble and paints also on it, an introduction to the Modernity from ancient art skill, and doing so, he tells us stories taken from History of Art and Stories from the region he lives in, and mostly from the Chronicle of our times.
Especially from the Chronicles of our Times that the Artist become a Civil Artist with the duty to speak of the contemporary social emergency, in such a way the artist goes even further than the virtuous skil shown on the bas-reliefs.
The ongoing series of the bas-reliefs focused on the News Item from Newspapers and Internet, underlines the position the Artist assumes and refreshes the role of the Marble which was used in ancient times.
We may organize his production into ongoing Series, the News Items series from newspapers and Internet, the Series using Symbol and Allegory , the series focused on classic figure.
In recent years he has dedicated himself to the art of digital images. At the center of his works there is always the shadow, sought after and manipulated produces curious, mysterious and funny results.
