Biography

"The social interactions played out daily around me, sparks my interest and many paintings are an attempt to distil what I see," states Anna-Carien Goosen, South African painter. She combines realism and abstraction; painting mediums with drawing mediums to create a stimulating play between calculated planning and experience against spontaneous, accidental experiments. "I am curious. Art is the manner in which I explore the inward significance of things."

Anna-Carien Goosen studied fine arts at the University of Pretoria and has taken part in various exhibitions locally as well as abroad. She is a full-time artist, living in Pretoria, happily outnumbered in a home filled with numerous animals, three boisterous sons, and a creative husband.

"My destination is no longer a place, but a new way of seeing."
