Biography
Johanna Wahl is a German photographer, designer and artist. She creates sculptures and paintings with a technique that is not the traditional one with pigments on canvas, terracotta or bronze. The works take different shapes and textures: bas-reliefs and sculptures are produced through the processing of natural and delicate materials such as fabrics and vegetable fibers. The materials are combined and intertwined with various substrates in order to obtain consistency and dynamism in a path that is inspired by the forms of nature. Then everything is frozen in a sort of 'vitrification' that enhances the physicality of the work.
The textures, the folds, the nodes, overlaps and volumes play a fundamental role in the creative process.
While the sculptures of various sizes, have complex shapes and bright colors, inspired by the organic world, on the other side the relief panels and totem relief are minimal as far archetypes. They are strictly white, so that the design, elegant and clean, can be exalted in the relationship with space.
