Biography

Inspired by family roots in graphic design and printing, in the third generation, I rediscovered the craft of labour-intensive hand-made graphic compositions, blending clear lines of graphics with the soft and organic nature of knitwear. Converting the tight contrast of lettertype into warm, fuzzy knots of wool, I created a completely new expression of color, form and material on an unexpected tapestry poster.
Developed from a detailed sketch on paper, compositions are knitted by hand in large sheets, then meticulously seamed onto a panel. The flexibility of knit work makes it possible to produce panels in various sizes from one to five meters, so they could fit in any space at home, office or public building.
Presently, I live in Amsterdam, The Netherlands where I work as a self-employed graphic designer, and create art of knitwear, called Graphic Knitware.
