Biography
Felix Policastro was born on 14th September 1961 on the south bank of the Orinoco River in Ciudad Bolivar, Venezuela where he lived until the age of 11. In the seventies, his parents moved back to Italy, amid uncertainties and finding it quite difficult settling down. So begins for Felix a real intellectual journey full of memories, feelings and scents experienced during those years. He spends a decade fulfilling his educational duties and satisfying, during his spare time, his passion for painting. In those years his main interest is addressed mainly to painting techniques, elaborating, in the early eighties, his own artistic expression through the only use of colours and shapes. He does not produce many paintings during these days, but he shows them to friends and critics who share with him the same passion. Felix is soon interested into visual communications, gaining experience in different disciplines, experimenting innovative techniques on materials and other natural mediums. He designs and creates various logos and symbols for companies and privates. He also designs and produces art installations translating his artistic research into functionality. His experimentation is aimed at capturing a "divine plan" trying to establish a dialogue between man and nature. The work he produced over the last 16 years translated into a true visual alphabet that he personally elaborates. His are “works in progress” that make him reflect and analyze the path so far traced, and move towards new combinations and contaminations.
