Biography

Following his father's footsteps, Vito grew up playing with the camera since his early age and spending his days in the darkroom with his father Nino.
Vito started working as a professional wedding photographer at a very young age, but he is an artist very sensitive to everything around him; life itself is his theme, his fine photographic research becomes mature interpretation of image, an universal language of emotional impact to which the author gives voice offering unique shots, in which the boundary between painting and photography becomes labile.

Vito's photography's skills have been strengthened by his experience in the darkroom with his father. His attendance to workshops contributed to his photographic training as well, and put him in contact with the style and thoughts of several other photographers from national and international fame. This led him to a deep inner continuous research and to find an highly personal and unmistakable style.

Although he was skeptic initially, he sees the transition from '"film" to "digital” as a new equally charming way (with existing suitable technologies – that need to be used appropriately) to continue to bring to life the emotions with the same level of excitement. All this without replacing creativity and ability to dominate natural light - which is the core skill of a real photographer, who always studies the composition of the image from its first release - because at that moment the image is already created in the mind of the author capable of enhancing the subject in its most profound aspect.
Vito uses the latest software exquisitely to mimic those processes learned in the dark room, which is the unique privileged place where a real image come into life and where, for years , he saw the photography taking shape, between negative, silver and bromide salts, acids and toning.
The search for harmony, the pondered composition of an image and the symbiosis with light are elements that belong only to those who daily searches even higher artistic expressions.
To fully understand Vito Finocchiaro's thinking process you cannot overlook another aspect of his life: the running. While once he used to run competitively, he now runs for his need to be himself , just like he feels the photography. Running is "catharsis", intended as a vent and emotional discharge. In the experience of loneliness, cold, fatigue of the running he is able to read inside himself and to communicate with "himself", with the emotions and his inner and authentic feelings. The cathartic moment merges with the creative one. Exploration, introspection and reflection, microcosms caught in a split of a second, thanks to the sensitivity of an artist who intelligently and sensitively senses the reality that surrounds him, he transfers his feeling in images and he makes them real through the photographic medium.
