Biography
My practice primarily focuses on portraiture and figurative work. I explore the many layers that make up a person by purposefully investigating and questioning "What Lies Beneath?"
I am constantly researching new ways of looking and understanding portraiture through exploration. I generally look at how to represent people through the mediums of painting and drawing.
My current line of enquiry has lead me to research social class, but more specifically social groups focusing on social integration.
I have looked at virtual worlds through the social media site Facebook and at a local art group. The former has allowed me to explore and experiment because of the profile imagery that people choose to represent themselves as self-portraits. This gives a warped perspective but allows me as an artist to examine the psychology and try to understand what Facebook really is all about.
