Biography

Born in Turin, since 1996 Stefania lives and works in Settimo Torinese. After graduating in accounting education from high school, she started developing her art at a young age, in a “non-traditional” way.
Her expressive research leads her to take the path of a ceramic artist, before being a painter. However, these expressive means did not resemble her communicative ideal, so she continued her research, arriving to Fiber Art: the use of fabrics, particular textile fibers and even metallic ones woven through the ancient technique of “Macramè” (Mahrama). In other words, a twist made of knots which ends with fringes satisfies her.
She thoroughly studies Arabic works which have been made through this technique before 1400, drawing inspiration from the realisation of furniture and conventual tapestries of 17th and 18th centuries.
