A refined technique mastered over 3 years, Yelena York Tonoyan is a self-taught artist that has created a very unique style in her application of paint onto canvas. When you see a York it is hard to imagine that these wondrous works of art were mainly created through the use of Copic Markers. Her process and method are not conventional. There is never a sketch, just an idea in her head that is applied onto the final canvas. It is because of this that each stroke must be precise, if not, she must start her work from scratch. Although this method is a daunting task, the style suits her sense of precision, beauty and imagination in allowing her to capture detail throughout sharp and eloquent strokes.
