Biography

pure photography

The distinctive feature of my pictures is: they are discovered, not devised. My works are captured with the camera, not created on the computer. Nothing is being arranged. Each motif existed somewhere sometime for the fraction of a second in the exact same way it is being shown.

For many years now I am in search of the aesthetics of the ordinary, finding it in unusual perspectives of the usual, harmonious contrasts and in the conformity of detail. My presentations of the series "Strukturen" (Patterns) and "Reflexion" (Reflection) show current findings of this search.
"Abbilder" (Figures) is the sole series embedding man in the otherwise purely material patterns and reflections.

My latest series "Tableaux" apparently crosses the boundary between photography and painting. Even though the pictures seem to be paintings, they are nevertheless pure photography. Seeing the unseen, liberating myself from concreteness and conventions permits me to condense the instant, reducing it to its mere intensity and beauty.
