Biography

Formally trained as a painter, I am an interdisciplinary/cultural promoter artist that has spent more than a decade understanding shape, form, plane and composition within the context of textile arts and other mixed media, by closely examining the female imagery found in Mexican adult comic books, while addressing culture and gender issues, primarily by means of traditional techniques such as embroidery/crochet, collage.

In the last five years, I have created and initiated three artistic projects that have enabled me to experience the greatness that exists within collaborative efforts. In turn, these projects have taken me outside of my studio practice and incited a shift in my art practice. I am currently involved in a careful inquiry and examination regarding the significance, importance, and the possibilities of corners within closed/open architectural renderings, with and without the presence of additional forms. I feel corners are often neglected or misunderstood. With this in mind, I am searching for ways to clearly highlight their presence and importance in indoor or outdoor architectural structures.
