Biography

My video and installation work explores the political and social ramifications of intersections between bodies, the built environment, and human behavior. Using institutional interiors as settings and repeated images of my body as both archetype and text, I design performances for video that reify and embody sets of behaviors and gestures in order to explore their reciprocal relationship to the situations and environments they occur in. I focus on boring subjects - mundane rituals and repetitive gestures, work and workplaces, formulaic and anomalous spaces - and amplify moments or instances of absurdity to explore how large an impact these small and often invisible things can have on everyday experiences.
