Biography
It’s about creating connections and establishing relationships between things. The difficult part of that is to keep from producing a big hodgepodge, and to maintain clarity—like with a good salad.
Tomicek’s program is a precisely conceived undertaking that calls forth analogies and offers clues, which nevertheless resist being pieced together into a coherent interpretation. Possible combinations are offered, opening up an “inner cinema” before the viewer’s mental eye; its images are not fixed in place, but circulate, change, and are constantly adding up to new wholes. The viewer’s perception is thus an integral part of Tomicek’s exhibitions.
