Biography
My work is intuitive and experimental. As a woman artist I am interested in seeing the world through the body. The body has memories and stories to tell. The memories and stories help to appreciate the human experience. I see vulnerability as strength, the ephemeral and temporary as beauty.
I see an affinity between man/woman and Nature. The feminine figure has a strength and fragility that I compare with Nature.
The figures are derived from my own body. I sew them, burn them , mark them with words(like tattoos) and perforate them. This kind of “rite” helps me to extract their authenticity and show their connection with Nature.
I am seduced by materials such as dirt, sand, flowers, silk, paper, and thread. Instead of drawing a line I prefer to sew, burn or cut it. Sewing is like breathing or meditating. There is a silence and a listening both which aid in my process.
