Biography
JOSE MARIA OSUNA RODRIGUEZ
I know the work of Jose Maria Osuna since its started; was back in the early nineties when I visited his home studio in Toledo, his garden was littered with what at first seemed strange objects filled with fantasy, were pieces of wood eaten away by time logs, tree branches and they all transformed by a rabid primary color, reds, yellows, blues embraced the whole volume and in an attempt to turn death, and decay of matter into a song of light and hope.
Much time has passed since then, its concepts have been clarified, what was once chaos has become a search of simplicity, clarity and harmony, his current work gives us a constructive order, an optimism about the anguish of the man of our days, and disintegrative forces that surround and pessimistic. Take advantage of pure color visuals, contained in flat geometric shapes and surfaces developed on their potential for interaction. Accepts a mathematical foundation for art and geometry is your working tool.
His paintings seem to create an open structure that tends to expand beyond its own limits in which color acts as dynamic forms. Their uniform colors are flat and often using the hot and cold competitions and variations in its intensity to act as a counterpoint to each other forms a unique set giving the variability and mobility.
In his paintings there is always a dynamic address, there is a drain on its surface, like a slip stream created by the rhythm of color.
