Biography

I make my pieces from building materials, paper, oil paint, charcoal, water based paints, house paints and have just started making “Giclee” prints on canvas from my original works. Some of these prints are “painted into” with oil paint.

I find it important to incorporate what I call the “signs of making” into my work, ie, pencil marks, paper folds, scotch tape, nails/screw heads are all left visible.

My subject matter is primarily the human condition as I see it exists in the universe, a place I call “BlackLand”.

I have also begun to make three-dimensional stand alone paintings of board games, particularly chess. The first of these I call “Qubik”. It consists of four iterations of a three-dimensional chess game as played through a cube, displayed in a box.

More to come.
