Biography

Natalia Cellini begins with a self-taught approach to art, specializing thereafter in Trompe-I'oeil, fake marble, grisaille and decorative coatings. In 1999 she opens an art studio devoting herself to painting using diverse materials and techniques, leading to what is still today her artistic direction: working on memories, personal and collective, going on further, building a path aiming to finding a harmonious relationship with the past, which does not ignore the current era neither tries to escape from it, but paints the perennial existence of things within time. The artworks are the result of a balance between contrasts, arising from the need to keep both alive: a fascinating present due to freedom of expression, whilst allowing a past that is instead a repository of memories with very strong emotional influence. The technique used also pursues the same attempt for pacification: sand, plaster, dust, mixed and hand-painted then spread out on canvas forming a support, almost an echo of the daily work of every ancient craft, and dense polished synthetic resins as a finish.
