Biography
A lot of my paintings are questions about both the idea of representation, and what makes a painting a painting.
Sketches, traditionally, are considered the preliminary work to make a painting. On the contrary in my paintings the sketches and the drawings become the content of the painting. Not so much for what they represent, but for their materiality: immages produced by grafite, by brushes, by pens, marks on notebooks, sheets of paper pinned on walls. Intentional marks, casual marks, marks due to errors. And their materiality includes also the actual papers, books, walls, the primary material that carries the immages
