Biography

Caroline Douglas is a Scottish artist who works predominantly with photography. In her work she explores themes of refuge and prospect, safety and intimacy, public and private and permission and refusal.

Caroline graduated from Edinburgh College of Art (BA Hons Photography) in 2006 and Glasgow School of Art (MFA) in 2010. She was Re:Create artist in residence at Stills Gallery in Edinburgh in 2008. Her international residencies include the School of the Art Institute Chicago in 2009, Fondazione Fotografia in Modena, Italy in 2010 and Proekt Fabrika in Moscow in 2011. She was the recipient of the 9th Helen Keller International Award 2011.

Caroline is currently based in Edinburgh, Scotland working as a visiting lecturer at Edinburgh College of Art and Edinburgh Napier University.
