Biography

Filippo Vieri was born in Laterina (AR) the 29th April 1979. In 1998 he obtained a diploma at the School of Arts “Piero della Francesca” in Arezzo and, in September, he enrolled the School of Fine Arts in Florence, attending the Professors Vincenzo Bianchi and Antonio Di Tommaso’s chair of Sculpture. In February 23, 2003 Vieri defended his dissertation “Oltre la Figura” (Beyond the Figure), getting full marks and honours.
Currently, he lives and works in Florence.
Over the years, Vieri has exhibited his works in cities like Kanagawa (Japan), Florence, Rome, Senigallia (AN), Forlì, Arezzo.
Besides, he has taken part in several international symposia of sculpture and many other projects.

2000
✦He took part in the project named “La Valle della
Resistenza” (The Valley of Resistance) in Vallemaio (FR)
✦He took part in the event “Scultura e Poesia” (Sculpture and Poetry) in Cervara di Roma (RM), where he sculpted the “Scalinata dell’Infinito” (Stairway to Infinite) right into the rock face, to pay homage to Giacomo Leopardi. Besides, there is a sculpture of the artist in the open-work museum Art for Peace
2001
✦Vieri is invited in Ari (CH) and had the opportunity to make a monument to the memory of Magistrate Giovanni Falcone, titled “Armonia” (Harmony). The work is part of the symposium “Ari Bella… per non dimenticare i magistrati e tutori dell’ordine assassinati dalla mano mafiosa e terrorista per difendere le istituzioni d’Italia” (Beautiful Ari… to remember magistrates , police and army officers who lost their lives defending Italy institutions against Mafia and Terrorism)
2003
✦He collaborated to the war memorial in Rocca d’Arce (FR), titled “Ex Libro Pacis”
2007
✦He exhibited in the hill fort of Tentennano, in Castiglione d’Orcia (SI), during the show of sculpture and painting dedicated to Saint Catherine of Siena.
✦He made a series of unique performances and art installations through the most interesting places of Florence with the artistic group “Compagni di Viaggio”. They put together sculpture, nature and poetry during the shows “Chichibio” and “Alkermes”
✦The 1st of December, during the celebrations to pay homage to the Tuscan people who stand out in various fields, the artist received the award “Talenti e Territorio” (Talents and Territory) in Arezzo, from the President of regional council.
2008
✦In Atessa (CH), he sculpted the monumental sculpture “Mater” (Mother) in a block of stone of Vicenza
2010
✦He made the monumental sculpture “Il Riposo” (The Rest), placed in the artistic park of Travalle, Calenzano (FI).
✦He organised an exhibition/workshop titled “CON-TATTO… si prega di toccare!” (Con-tatto [italian pun between the words 'contatto', which means 'contact' and 'con il tatto', which means 'with the sense of touch']… please touch!”), where blinded and not blinded people were guided through a unique and sensorial experience.
