Americo De Vecchis
Interesting experience to this artist, who wanted to return to his usual passion, that of drawing, at fifty-two played, in defiance of the difficulty of recovering the more than twenty years of inactivity. But the effort has paid off, and everyone can see his work realize that the results are truly happy, there is a sign in front of hot, dense, enveloping. Every painting, done strictly in pencil, seems to express that sense of liberation that Americo De Vecchis must have found giving vent to his passion after so many years, projecting a reality in black and white and can show the colors that we could no longer see this sticky subject as we are by the greyness of everyday life. The subjects of his drawings seem in fact to recall details of our life that we can no longer pause, repeat as take pictures of our childhood that we have abandoned in an old attic. Here, then, that brings us back to the desolate alleyways eyes and leaving, the remaining shreds of the country to witness a war just past, the American bombing .... really seems to slip a pencil through the dust and lime, showing all the physicality of ancient buildings and times gone by. But to Americo De Vecchis not a nostalgic look, but an eye that knows rest still naive about the world around, and then gets to investigate the disorder of the undergrowth, pausing on the flowers of the field, losing in the complex interweaving of nature we find ourselves in the foot without paying any attention, restricting ourselves to step on it. Yet his best Americo De Vecchis joins him in his portraits, tracing the outlines of human faces and slipping into their wrinkles. There is no psychological survey in the faces, rather a snapshot of a moment, a mood, a feeling a choice to make, as in the case of doubt, where the man is portrayed in the difficulty of not knowing make its decision.
