Biography

The Freies Museum Berlin was launched in July 2009 as an initiative by creators, artists and interdisciplinary project organizers. Based on the idea of Beuys' social sculpture exhibition projects, the local and international artists are self-organized and their art deals with the immediate knowledge and life in our society. It is a place where research, production and presentation cme together, and create a space for experiments.

The museum, on the three exhibition floors, in cooperation with international artists / institutions, the exhibition projects and offers young artists an "Emergency Room" for first exhibition projects as well as various event formats such as video screenings, performative lectures, experimental concerts, happenings, and once monthly by the non-academic exhibitions in Paris in the 19th Century inspired "Salon des Refusés" the unemployed are invited to discuss alternative activities.
