Biography

Denaro was born in Mazara del Vallo (Trapani) on May 22nd 1980.
He began painting from an early age and in 1999 he obtained the title of Maturity of Applied Art in Pottery Decoration in the city of his origin. He then attended the Academy of Fine Arts in Palermo. The background of the Academy marked a decisive imprint in his initial artistic training. In 2005 he obtained a Degree in Decoration. The artist went on to complete his studies at the University of Bologna, where he earned a Master Degree in Art History specializing himself on Caravaggio-style painters who worked in Sicily.
This experience led him to rejoin his favorite artistic environment: the Mediterranean. His research is aimed from the archaic Phoenician-Punic foundations to the modern fishing world that afflicts the Mediterranean waters.
His onset occurs in 2000 by submitting a work to the collective painting "Venir, sou-venir, Bagagli in mostra", coordinated by Ai Candelai Association of Palermo.
On 30th May 2003 he participated in the live painting "L'uomo e il mare" organized by the Italian Naval League, at the section of Mazara del Vallo.
The 18th July and 1st August in the same year he participated at the first and second extemporaneous painting "Città di Salemi". He also presented his work at the collective work of painting "Sacro Contemporaneo", in the Church of San Carlo al Corso and San Michele Arcangelo in Noto. The year 2003 proved to be a prosperous one for him as it marked his debut at the international scene - exposing an engraving at '"Italian American Festival" in the Museum Duluth, University of Minnesota. The year ended with the donation of an engraving to the Hospital "V. Cervello" of Palermo in an event organized by Hope Bone Association.
During the following year he continued to attend international events as he presented a work at the collective of engravings "Frisch gepresst: Pressato fresco" in Nuremberg, Germany. In the same year he showed off an incision at the exhibition "Prospettiva d'America" held at Palazzo Sclafani of Palermo.
The artist does not however neglect events related to his land of origin, despite his international committments. In 2003 he participated in several events, such as the Biennale engraving in Monsummano Terme and the International Prize of Engraving "Fabio Bertoni." In 2004 he showed an incision at the second edition "Graphic Awards Pietro Parigi", and in 2005 he took part in a group exhibition of paintings at the Pavilion of Exposures in the town of Campobello di Mazara; moreover, he presented an incision at a group show held in Helsinki in the same year. In 2009 some of his works were exhibited at the visual arts collective exhibition "La Baia dei Porci" at FARM Cultural Association of Bologna.
In 2010 and 2011 he undertook a long journey to Australia, exploring the lands and cultures of the Aboriginal people.
During his stay in the southern continent two solo exhibitions were held: Lobsters at the exhibition hall at Tratto Ra-ro, and The metamorphosis of crab at UTS Haberfield Club Ltd, Sydney.
