ZOOart 2011, artisitic iternary for the Fresia Gardens of Cuneo
Artist application for the tenth edition of ZOOart is now open, the international exhibition for visual arts.
The exhibition, presented by the Art.ur Association in the city of Cuneo, will take place in Cuneo’s historical center during the first three weeks of July, mainly at the Fresia Gardens, the ex city zoo transformed years ago into a public park.
During the first three weeks of July, thirty young artists, national and international, will be invited to transform the urban public spaces of the gardens and other parts of the city, with site specific projects, including installations, sculptures, paintings, photography, drawing and video.
For ten years now the exhibition has presented a selection of artworks that are able to create a dialogue with the location they are in, using an ample range of expressive mediums.
The exhibition has always been concerned with inserting artistic projects inside the daily activities of the city itself, ZOOart has developed in contrast to conventions of auto-referential art.
The event is unique in Italy due to its location, the old ex city zoo-park and its opening hours tied to the public role the garden plays during the day. The exhibition spaces that host the paintings, photography and video projections, performances and installations are prepared in the evening and are mostly visible only in the hours of the night.
The exhibition is organized by the association Art.ur with the support of the Piedmont Region, the Province of Cuneo, the city of Cuneo, the city of Turin, the CRC Foundation, the GAI, the CRT Foundation, the Gaia Collection and private companies in the area.
